These terms apply to the BackgroundBlur website, browser-based person photo background tool, and published guides.

Acceptance
By using BackgroundBlur, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website or tool.
What the tool does
BackgroundBlur uses automated person segmentation to keep a foreground person relatively sharp while softening surrounding pixels. It is designed for clear selfies, headshots, and half-body person photos. It is not an arbitrary object editor, identity-redaction product, or legal anonymization service.
Your photos and permissions
You retain rights in photos you process. You must have permission to use the image and must not process content in a way that violates privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or other applicable rights.
Local processing
The public tool processes media in browser memory and exports a separate copy. You are responsible for keeping the original and reviewing every edge before using the result. Downloaded results are not retained by the service, which is not a backup service.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the website, bypass security controls, distribute malicious files, falsely represent the tool as certified anonymization, or use the service for unlawful, deceptive, or abusive activity.
Availability and changes
The first release is free and does not include accounts, credits, subscriptions, or guaranteed service levels. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may update file, browser, or processing limits.
No guarantee of perfect results
Automated segmentation can make mistakes around hair, fingers, transparency, low light, motion, overlapping people, and similar colors. You must inspect the output. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BackgroundBlur and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, or reliance on an unreviewed result.
Third-party software
The tool includes @imgly/background-removal (AGPL-3.0; commercial use may require a separate IMG.LY license), ONNX Runtime Web under the MIT License, and StackBlur under the MIT License. Runtime notices are available from the site footer.
