Data handling
Privacy Policy
BackgroundBlur is designed so the public photo tool can perform person segmentation, background blur, comparison, and export inside your browser.
Last updated: July 28, 2026
Scope of this policy
This policy covers the public BackgroundBlur website, its browser-based person photo tool, the two published guides, and related legal pages. It does not describe template features, accounts, payments, cloud jobs, or media storage because those capabilities are not part of the public product.
How photo processing works
The source photo, temporary person mask, Canvas pixels, and exported image are handled in browser memory. BackgroundBlur does not intentionally send the source photo, file name, mask, pixel data, object URL, or exported image to application servers, cloud storage, analytics tools, or error-reporting services.
The ONNX Runtime Web assets, segmentation model, and StackBlur code are delivered as same-origin static assets. Once loaded, they process the selected image locally.
Downloads
When you download a result, the browser creates a temporary Blob URL only long enough to start the download, then releases it. BackgroundBlur does not retain a local or cloud download history.
Information we may process
Infrastructure providers may process limited technical data needed to deliver and secure the website, such as IP address, request time, requested static path, user agent, and security signals. Photo contents are not part of application requests.
Production deployments use anonymous product measurement for page views and a limited set of tool interactions. Those events may include the page path, general device or browser information, an event name, and coarse completion status. They never include files, Blob URLs, base64 data, masks, pixels, file names, or free-text errors.
Cookies, local storage, and browser cache
The public tool does not require an account cookie. The page loads application JavaScript and can load an analytics script. The browser may also cache WebAssembly, fonts, icons, and the segmentation model so later visits load faster. Media files and downloaded results are not written to application storage by the tool.
Service providers
Cloudflare provides website delivery, security, and related infrastructure. A provider may process limited technical data under its terms and data-protection commitments. We do not authorize providers to use photo content from the public tool because that content is not sent to them by the application.
Retention
Source photos, masks, previews, and result Blob URLs exist only for the active page session and are released when replaced, refreshed, or closed. Infrastructure security logs follow the configured provider retention period and do not contain application photo bodies.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data held by a service operator. Because the tool does not receive photo content, we cannot retrieve a photo that never left your device.
Children's privacy
The service is not directed to children under the age required for independent consent in their jurisdiction. A parent or guardian should supervise use where applicable.
Security and changes
We use browser isolation, same-origin static assets, file limits, and a media-free event boundary to reduce risk. No online system is completely secure. Material changes to this policy will update the date above.
